Re: “Report: Bicycling Amenities Deepen Memphis Inequality

I love riding my bike! I obey road laws when I'm on the road with my bike or my car. I wish there were some bike lanes where I live but there aren't so I ride in a lane that I have the right to do so. I work in Memphis and drive up Getwell every day and guess what I see, black people riding their bikes in the road to get around and I bet they would use a bike lane just as much as I would.

As I have never seen any requirement but a bike to use a bike lane, I believe they are open to bikes of all types and prices so how is that in any way forcing anyone out of a neighborhood? I have never looked at a bike that requires you to be any color to ride it either so can someone explain where the notion that bike lanes and bikes cause any racial separation or issues?

I live in a pretty evenly mixed neighborhood in Southaven and the mix of kids who ride bikes around our house is pretty even and they ride their bikes together. I really don't think putting a bike lane would change that.
