Juneteenth Freedom & Heritage Festival

When: June 19-21 2009
Phone: 385-4943
A celebration of the ending of slavery, Juneteenth remembers the June 19, 1865, announcement in Galveston, Texas, that the Civil War had ended and slavery had been abolished. This year’s Memphis Juneteenth festival, which runs Friday through Sunday, celebrates the 100-year anniversary of the NAACP. The event is action-packed with live music, a health and job fair, exhibits, dancers, storytellers, basketball, softball, family reunions, class reunions, horseback riding, picnics, and food and merchandise vendors.
