Re: “Zoo Wants Trams Through Old Forest

Not a word about a north entrance or parking on N Pky. Just reconfiguring the main lot & tram use.
It's a violation of TDEC's State Natural Area Rules, punishable by a civil penalty of up to ten thousand dollars ($10,000) per day.

Re: “Council Members Say Sunshine Law Not Violated on Greensward Vote

The nine co-spornsors of the bill are: Reid Hedgepeth, Phillip Spinosa, Patrice Robinson, Berlin Boyd, Edmund Ford, Joe Brown, Bill Morrison, Janis Fullilove, and Martavius Jones.
That wasn't hard to find.
Tho Mr. Jones was the only nay vote when it passed.

Re: “Greensward Protest Caused 'Almost Irreparable Harm'

"Many families parked blocks and blocks away because they were directed by protesters acting as zoo volunteers, only to arrive to see plenty of paved parking available but blocked by protesters. Still others were unable to visit the zoo at all."
No one was 'acting as a zoo volunteer'. Zoo volunteers, wear blue, their staff wear maroon. Get Off Our Lawn volunteers wore Save the Greensward shirts, or traffic cone costumes, or whatever they wanted. And they certainly did not prevent parking on paved areas.

Re: “Full Interview: Q&A with Zoo President Chuck Brady

I would love to see the zoo and the Levitt Foundation collaborate on a parking garage. Zoo visitors could use it during the day and folks coming to concerts at the shell could use it at night.

Re: “Zoo Blues

I can't copy/ the picture I have on my FB page of the huge orange scar running from the zoo parking lot to the center of the greensward, with branches going off to the right, which were made by cars repeatedly driving over & killing the grass. Look @ Google Earth. You can see it there.
It doesn't take much imagination to know what will be there during the spring rains. But the zoo will STILL keep waving them in.

Re: “Zoo Removes Trees from Greensward

Mayor Strickland responds to IM's thru his FB page. Got this in about 30 min:
Hi, Karen, this is Kyle Veazey, deputy director of communications. Here's the mayor's response to the Zoo/trees issue: "We’re aware of the issue. We didn’t know in advance of the trees being cut, and we don’t expect it to continue."
