Re: “What Will AMH Think?

Marymack's very eloquently spoken comments are right on. It is indeed very disturbing that this child will continue to remain in the Baker's clutches for an indefinite period of time while she "readjusts" to her real parents. And, all this time, they will no doubt be poisoning her against her true parents -- it is certainly what they will do, because it is what they've been doing all along -- lying about her parents' character, lying about the facts, and using every manipulative slimeball trick they can find to keep that child away from her parents. As Marymack said, their behavior has been in gross violation of the standards of foster parenting, and I believe it might be in order to charge them with perjury (Mr. Baker did lie on the stand several times) as well as child abuse (for the trauma this child will go through in the coming months as she adjusts to her true parents, her true culture, her true brother and sister, her true language). They set her up for that abuse by withholding her from her true parents for 7 years, and if that isn't neglect, what is?

Re: “What Will AMH Think?

What will AMH think? (in 4 or 5 years, when she's old enough to do a computer search and read the court case) 1) What will AMH think about the University of Memphis which immediately fired her Dad from his job upon false allegations of rape before his case had even gone through due process by campus authorities and later police? Would the good ole boys at U of M have taken such drastic action with a southern white prof?? What will she think of this action that placed her parents in a financial tailspin that ultimately resulted in the agonizing decision to temporarily place her in another home? 2)What will she think of her real parents who visited her faithfully every week, bringing food, diapers, and a camera to record each week of her life? What will she think of her foster parents who only allowed these loving, devoted parents one hour a week, and then cut off those visits altogether? 3) What will AMH think when she realizes her foster parents lied repeatedly about her real parents -- no doubt to her, as well as to the court and to the press -- saying that her real Mom and Dad had given her to the Bakers until she was 18? What will she think when she reads the truth (as testified to by the juvenile court authorities and the court interpreter)that the mother was ADAMENT that she be able to receive her child back -- and that this was temporary -- and that she was assured 3 or 4 times that she would be able to get her child back. What will her opinion be of her foster Mom and Dad -- will she ever be able to trust them again?? 4) What will AMH think when she learns that within weeks of signing the custody agreement in 1999, that her Mom was complaining to the juvenile authorities about the Bakers curtailing visits, and that she wanted her baby back? What will she think when she learns that in November 1999, her real father told Mr. Baker he wanted his baby back, but was told to let things go because Mrs. Baker was pregnant and he didn't want to put her through emotional trauma? What will she think when she realizes that her Dad postponed her legal return out of compassion for her foster mother, and then the foster parents use that postponement and the eventually relationship of AMH to that unborn child to their own advantage? She will see her real Dad as the compassionate and considerate person that he is, and her fake Dad as a manipulator who kept her away from her true family. 5) What will AMH think when she discovers that less than a year after the custody agreement was signed, her real parents filed a legal petition to get her back? (and it would have been much sooner that that if her Daddy hadn't agreed to postpone things due to Mrs. Baker's pregnancy). What will she think when she learns that the good ole Memphis court system denied this petition -- simply because her father didn't have a real job (thanks once again to the good ole boys) and they were intending to send her to family in China (hell on earth according to the good ole boys, but not according to those of us who live in China and happily raise our children in a safe, virtually drug-free, child friendly society) 6)What will she think when she learns that her foster parents refused to allow her real parents to take her to the photo studio for a family portrait --even when they invited the Bakers to come along? What will she think when this refusal (after the Bakers had previously agreed to it) resulted in the police being called, and the Bakers (and the police) telling her Mommy and Daddy never to come to their house again? 7) What will she think when she learns that her parents spent the next 4 months in agony -- afraid to visit her because of the police prohibition, but at the same time, frantically calling, writing, and faxes the juvenile court about the situation, and filing yet another petition to have AMH return to her rightful home? 8) What will AMH think when she realizes that her manipulative, conniving foster father (and the good ole boys in the Memphis courts)used the ensuing 4 months of missed visitation as a means of terminating the parental rights of her Mommy and Daddy, and cutting off all access to them for the next 5 years? 9) What will she think when she realizes that the parents she thought abandoned her have been loving her all along, celebrating her birthdays without her, trying every measure they could to get her back in their lives. 10) What will AMH think when she realizes that the Bakers did everything they could to keep her from her real Mom and Dad -- from calling all the Chinese restaurants in town to keep them from hiring her Mom and Dad, to trying to get her parents deported, to lying about their character and parenting ability, and to lying about the truth of the custody arrangements? I pity the child and I pity the Bakers when AMH comes to the realization of the above facts -- she will surely hate them, and want nothing more to do with them.
