Awesome article. I will never understand the total resistance to discussing a viable alternative that will resolve this issue, ensure parking for zoo patrons and preserves the park. This is, after all, the park that stopped an interstate--because it is such a valuable resource to our city. I don't think the people that fought for that saw this coming, but did all that happen so we can park cars on the grass for 30 years and think that would be the best fix forever? I sure hope not. There needs to be a garage constructed on the existing front lot--which will pay for itself and be preferred over parking in the direct sun during the hotter months, and the alternate parking on McLean should be used before directing zoo patrons to the Greensward. I also think a little Saul Alinsky approach is in order. Stop buying zoo memberships that include free parking and increase the need to use the Greensward...and if you are a vendor or attendee of Zoo Rendezvous you may need to think about being too well to attend until this is resolved. Just a suggestion...
