Re: “What Strickland Will Do

The thing I cannot figure out 1 Memphis maniac is how did a white Mayor get elected by the "white" man purely because of racism when the census information states that Memphis is made up of almost 65% African Americans and only 29% white. It is unlikely that racism was the weighing factor, since elementary math states that it is not logical for that to be the sole factor. If racism was an issue, then why have we had an African American mayor since 1991. Did racism stop for the last 25 years and all of the sudden rear its ugly head? There have been white candidates who have run and lost time and time again in that 25 years.

Racism will DIE when people let it die. This is 2015 not 1951. Get over it, pull your big panties up and realize that people have a lot more to think about than the color of someone's skin. There are real issues, real problems and real answers.

By the way, if racism was such an issue why doe we have:

1. Numerous Black owned businesses
2. Black leadership in thr police departmet, fire department, and just about every civil office or government office I go in is well staffed with African American people.
3. All thee major tb stations have African American reporters.
4. The majority of Mata bus drivers are African american.

I mean come on...the list go for a mile. In 1951 or prior, this would be unheard of. Progress has been made and still being made. Why can we not celebrate the good? Why does a past generation of people who made really bad decision have to make a current generation suffer?

I challenge you to walk into 20 government offices and employers next week and do a census count. Your eyes will then be opened to the "truth" you ask for. Racism is dieing because people have grasped thr concept of equality and love. There are some unfortunately that want to hang their hat on the rack everytime things do not go their way. Life is not always fair, nor is it always racist.
