Whatever one may wish the POTUS to do with regard to this spill, what we do NOT want is for him to take a page from the JFK playbook at the time of the steel industry's price hikes. FBI agents knocked on doors at the homes of steel company executives in the very wee hours to discuss matters like business trips on which they had been accompanied by women to whom they were not married, but who were using the name of the woman asleep upstairs. In other words, blackmail was definitely in Bobby's (and, by extension, Jack's) arsenal in bringing the steel companies to heel. It was a very ugly chapter in U. S. history and in the history of my party, but it is time to get past the Camelot nostalgia and to look at that Administration with a clear eye.
