Look What I Made

With no school, the summer months tend to get boring for kids. It's too hot to play outside, they've mastered all their video games, and they've watched their favorite movies at least 100 times. So instead of planting them in front of the television this weekend, take them to the "Kids Klass" at Michael's Crafts, where they can learn how to decorate cakes.

There are many things that can light up a child's face, but cake is probably somewhere at the top of the list. The "Kakes for Kids" class is a great chance for parent/child bonding and developing creativity, and the sense of accomplishment when your little one finishes will be priceless. Not only have they created a masterpiece, they can eat it too.

Who knows? Maybe the tyke will grow up to be the next Food Network star or a baker who gets paid to decorate elaborate, expensive cakes for classy Hollywood parties. They have to start somewhere.

"Kakes for Kids" at Michael's Crafts at Wolfchase (8035 Giacosa Place), Saturday, July 12th, from noon to 2 p.m. $15. For more information, call 372-2111.
