Re: “Last Weekend's NAACP Centennial Celebration Looked Back — and Forward

The ascension of Trump to the presidency, which required the heavy participation of white working/middle class voters that were probably former democratic voters, is purely the fault of the leaders of the national democratic party. They managed to spilt the party between working/middle class blacks and whites, assuring republican dominance. Evidently, the so-called leadership is blind to this reality.
Harold Ford is exactly right. I give Jr. credit for seeing how psycho the national democratic party was back in the 1990s when he became a US representative and a blue dog.
With a majority black populace, Memphis will continue to be a democratic stronghold for the foreseeable future. The local dems are so-self centered, they cannot see past their own elections and do not help out their colleagues.
However, it appears that Tennessee is now a solid red state, and the republican that wins the primary will also the be next governor of Tennessee, and electoral college votes will continue to go republican.

Re: “Fly on the Wall 1478

I guess being a mugger is not to bad of a deal in Memphis. If one is a juvy, all sorts of protectors, including the federal government, will ascertain that the HVAC is kept on a comfortable setting.

Re: “Inside Mae Beavers: A Parody Arises

These instructions kind of reminded me of the Preppy Handbook written back in the early 1980s, that was also funny and dead on.

Re: “Gateway to Frayser

Frayser was a booming community back in the day. The four things that killed Frayser was annexation into Memphis, the shuttering of both Firestone and IH, the exodus of working families, and the gangsters moving in back in the 80s.

I hope development at the old Treasury store site is successful, but generally speaking, gov incentives do little for the money invested.

Re: “Warrants Issued Weeks After Man's Suicide at Murphy's

This happened a lot back when I was a probation/parole officer. It is rare to go on sweeps since management doesn't like paying OT. Pretty much, warrants are executed after a perp is arrested on a different charge.

Re: “Memphis Brigade of the Sons of Confederate Veterans Facebook Posts & Comments

Crazy House was also a excellent light cav leader, like Forrest, that owned LTC George Custard. Custard captured more confederate flags than any other union officer, and as a brevet MG, Custard's aggressive attacks on Lee's Army of Virginia brought a quicker end to the civil war.

Therefore, are we to keep the statues of Crazy Horse since he also raised arms against the Federal Government?

Re: “Confederate Group Promises 'Swarthy Convict' Cellmate for Those Removing Statues

Democrats were slaveholders. Now dems they hold blacks down with making them reliant on government programs. Some black folks have figured this out, most others haven't. Don't take my word, take a drive down south 3rd, a almost 100% democratic stronghold, and advise what has been accomplished in that area over the past 30 years or so. Quick answer, a bunch of empty promises.

We can all agree that a northern Republican ended slavery.
