Re: “Something cool is happening downtown

This is fantastic! If they have a PILOT though, please advise them to READ IT CAREFULLY so their property doesn't get stolen like 1 South Main.

Re: “1 S. Main Eviction Case Evokes Protest, New Legal Controversy

BP - rather than complain about it, let's DO something about it. I would like to continue this discussion in a more productive forum. Please contact me directly. The article's author knows how to get in touch with me.

Re: “1 S. Main Eviction Case Evokes Protest, New Legal Controversy

BP - you're right, property theft is just as likely to be perpetrated by a local. However, Memphis is not the poorest city in the country. In fact, we no longer make the top 10.

The creatives (and patrons) who have banded together and rallied behind this family, are working artists and, are from a wide variety of ethnic backgrounds and economic standings.

What I gather here is that developers can submit applications for grants containing statements easily proven to be false, and STILL get money from the DMC. FOR SHAME.

Re: “DMC President Hopes for 'Solution' on Artist Eviction

This shows nothing. It is a non-committal, pandering statement that does not in any way take ownership for the part the DMC has played in this fiasco. REAL relief would be the DMC revoking Aparium's $100,000 facade improvement grant until Aparium dropped the $100,000 suit against Reyes. If your organization is working toward a "creative heritage" and "authenticity," PROVE IT. This is not what preservation of a "community of creatives" looks like.

Re: “New Pizza Place in Midtown

Went Friday 6/19...atmosphere didn't match food. I was expecting something really spectacular and got something generally "okay". Crust looked pre-made, the "homemade" mozz was not obviously so, sauce was not memorable. It was good, but not crazy rad. All in all, probably better for a lunch date than dinner with your significant other.

Re: “$5 Cover Amplified: Takeaways

I'm very excited for the publicity that $5 Cover will garner for Memphis. But extremely disappointed in the lack of coverage for the Flipside Memphis (created by locals "Live From Memphis"), the $5 Cover companion mini-documentaries which premiered this past Monday.
While $5 Cover showcases Memphis artists as fictionalized versions of themselves, Flipside Memphis digs deeper into the rich community of creatives and grassroots organizations that make these various artists like family.

Ordinarily, I'm very pleased with the Flyer's coverage of local events, but I think you really missed the boat on Flipside.
