Prohibition doesn't work. It only creates a criminal class. The greater the attempts at enforcement, the more profit there is in the trade. And the more violence there will be. If it is less crime that we want, then we must quit multiplying the behaviors that we call criminal. Protecting life, liberty and property is a legitimate function of government. It's not good at those functions, but at least they are legitimate. Telling people what they can buy, sell, or ingest is not a legitimate function of government. It creates crime on the street and also in government.
