Re: “State Seeks Waiver from "No Child Left Behind" Program

"The governor said he felt optimistic that the state’s request would be approved by SECREARY of EDCATION Arne Duncan."

You meant to do that, right??

Re: “Information Gap

What part of "EVERYONE affected should have a voice" is so hard to understand? What part of "personal, condescending diatribes about people you know nothing about isn't going to win you any support" is so hard to understand?

Re: “Information Gap

WOW. Seems we've just heard from all the cyclists. Given their attitude, where I have been neutral before, I am now against the bike lanes.

ALL parties affected need to be aware of what's going on at all phases. That shouldn't bother anyone. The fact that Kyle Wagenschutz is himself an avid cyclist doesn't make him the best choice to be making decisions regarding who knows what and when.

Transparency, Mayor Wharton.

Re: “10 Under 30

My point is not to argue with young artists getting a feature.

I'm not as concerned with the age of the artists as with the attitude that was implied by Ms. Pierotti's comments which seemed to take a swipe at the "older established" artists as well as the instructors at the institutions with her comment "It's kind of overwhelming how much talent is here. Especially when you take into consideration who's working in the schools and in the art programs." This was read not only to my eye as unmerited arrogance.

Yes, Memphis is an arts town and yes, the Memphis artists and musicians who have made it an arts town do not get the respect that they deserve. However, I did not expect that lack of respect to come from the Dixon Galleries.

Re: “10 Under 30

I'm simply pointing out that Memphis has been retaining its young artists for a number of decades. This is neither a new nor out of the box idea.

It is through the dedication of the older and established artists and musicians that Memphis is an arts town.

Now, when may we expect the 10 OVER 30, 40, 50, 60, 70...showings? :)

Re: “10 Under 30

The "older and more established artists" have not already shown a dedication to staying in Memphis, working here, and making a name for themselves here??
