Re: “City Charged with Union-Busting Efforts as Federal Suit is Filed

Councilman Flinn (aka GSF):

What's in it for you?

Its obvious to the people of Memphis that privatization of sanitation (by means of managed competition) would end up putting much greater costs on citizens than the public sanitation fee.

In May, you and your cronies Hedgepeth and Kemp tried to discretely push yall's privatization plan, knowing that the people of Memphis would not stand for it. Since then you've been highly secretive about specifics, throw out alleged savings figures with NO evidence, and in general have done little more than attempt to mislead the public, including your constituency. You, Kemp, and Hedgepeth closely resemble the racist anti-union politicians who refused to recognize sanitation worker's human rights back in just use more sophisticated language.

So what's in it for you? How much $ are you looking to gain if sanitation services go to a giant corporate waste management service? The people of Memphis know how yall do things in city hall - meetings behind closed doors, etc.

If sanitation services were to go to a corporation, lets say All-Star/Republic, how much is your kickback?
