Re: “"Justice for All" Rally

As a child of lesbian parents, I find "Homosexuals have to hi-jack or be predatory in their attempt at having children." highly offensive. You make it sound as if the adoption (which is what I assume you meant by predatory) of a child in need of a loving family by a couple of the same sex is disgusting and immoral. Most children in that situation would be grateful just to have parental figures who care about them.

I personally am a the product of a sperm donor (which is what I assume you meant by hi-jacking). The donor in my case was a personal friend of my biological mother and her partner. He was not "hi-jacked" by any means. He wanted to help my mothers, who wanted a child, so he was definitely not taken advantage of. I was not the product of predation or hi-jacking, and I know that I am cherished by both of my mothers beyond comparison.

Another point of this rally also hit home for me. One of my mothers cannot be on our health care plan, and can't afford her own health insurance because she is unemployed. If my parents were a man and a woman, we would not have this problem. This lack of insurance has cut deeply into our pocket books as we attempt to pay for her prescriptions and treatments for pre-cancer on her skin.

So, my point is for you to think about how you would feel if you were in this situation. You don't know what we go through, or how bad my mother feels about not being able to take care of her love of 27 years. We are PEOPLE. We think, we feel, and we want to be able to be looked as if we mean as much as we know we do. Marriage is NOT about sexuality or bedroom antics, it is about love, and lovers to be able to support one another. And because of the government, my parents are deprived of those rights.
