Re: “Memphis to Receive Support for Fighting Violent Crime

As local lawmakers have made clear, Memphis does not have a violent crime problem. It has an admission-price-to-the-all-night-party-street-and-disrespectful-mayor problem.

Re: “Gannett to Sell Commercial Appeal Building

Who needs a building when your writers take turns writing about the same three topics every week:

1. Removing the Forrest statue.
2. Juvenile court problems
3. Lousy Grizzlies draft picks.

A large table on a Starbucks patio can hold that much talent.

Re: “On the Moon

Imagine being a citizen who wakes up and goes to work every day, pays his taxes, obeys the law, treats law enforcement with courtesy and respect, saves his money for his true needs and not his petty desires, only procreates the number of children that he or she can afford to feed, clothe, and is willing to properly rear and care for, and tries to treat others as he or she wishes to be treated, and teaches the aforementioned children to do the same.

Now imagine the above person being told he or she is responsible for the last two hundred years of pain and suffering of a different race, that his or her moral beliefs are all wrong and outdated, that he or she should be willing to pay far more in taxes to take care of others who fail to do the above, and if he or she so much as utters a thought that is critical of any mainstream victim du jour, he or she is branded a far right, simple minded homophobic racist hypocrite that is a danger to society.

Result? A megalomaniac TV reality star gets elected president.

Re: “MATA Wants Feedback on New Routes and Route Changes

Nick R.
I am gainfully employed in that beautiful berg hence I spend many hours there and have ample opportunity to view - day and night - the empty vehicles throughout that town. Can't say I've ever seen many bodies in them, unless they are all disguised as benches. While 'profitability' may not be a goal, wracking up losses in another state when transit needs are not being met in the sprawling city isn't act great path to success either.

Re: “MATA Wants Feedback on New Routes and Route Changes

Anybody know how much Arkansans pay to have empty buses cruise around West Memphis? According to the route 77 map, it still stops at a hospital that has been closed for years. It would seem highly unlikely that these routes could ever be efficient or profitable.
