Judge Bruce; be astounded. The indictment tells us that Sandusky was no longer working under Paterno at the time McQueary witnessed the rape. Paterno had no authority over Sandusky and resentment surrounding Paterno's rejection of Sandusky would justify Paterno's recusing himself and referring the situation to Curley (who had authority over athletic facilities) and Schultz (who had authority over University Police). If Paterno had further knowledge of these atrocities, it is not documented in this indictment. (BTW, I do not follow sports and had never heard Paterno's name prior to Nov 9. I respond only to the 23 pages of the indictment cited above.)
