"Freeloaders?" Nice. My daughter and I were homeless in 2004 when I finally got public housing. I enrolled in college and did very well. I did this to provide a better life for her. But in 2008 I suffered two strokes. I had to drop out of college even though I was so close to graduation. I never recovered. I've been refused disability so the only way we live is public assistance. I did NOT ask for this. I have no husband or family to help. I still have a roof over our heads. Thank goodness for the help. I hope you never have to see the disappointment on your child's face when she can't go to prom when asked or when there's absolutely NOTHING under the Christmas tree.
