Re: “"The Dude" Wins: Lebowski to Screen at Shell

The short version, for those who haven't seen it:

"Can you please keep your voices down? This is a family restaurant."

Re: “Why I'm Cancelling "The Commercial Appeal"

I once saw a puff profile in the Appeal section in which the "Special to the CA" byline was actually the subject of the article's mother!

Re: “'Suspicious' Morris Takes Drug Test, Challenges Others to Do So

How about Breathalyzer tests outside the entrances to the mayor's office and the Council chambers? Historically, alcohol has "impaired the judgment" of more politicians, causing them to "act out of the norm" more often, in more ways, than all the other drugs put together, times a thousand. As stunts go, tho, this is a pretty good one. Got your attention. But the snooping for prescription drugs seems to me to start down the slope towards full disclosure of medical records. For city mayor? Do we really need that level of presidential-level intrusive scrutiny to become de rigueur just for city mayor? The cliche implication on parade here is that a good portion of middle-class white-bread America is zonked on some prescription drug or other -- anti-depressant, anti-anxiety, painkillers, Zoloft, Prozac, "Mother's Little Helper," etc. -- all perfectly legal. It's the hidden scandal, right? And yes, that's true (if oversimplified). Still, to use that as a political cudgel, as leverage, on an individual level against other candidates, only for scandal-mongering TV-attention bait, reveals an authoritarian, witch-hunt streak in Morris. Does Morris want to take the Tom Cruise position against anxiety meds? Must office-seekers now disclose/explain their prescription records? (And is Viagra not on the battery of tests? That stuff certainly "impairs the judgment.")

Re: “Was this Woman Elvis' Girlfriend?

You left out her most famous credit! She was also the star of Russ Meyer's immortal "Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!" Which, by the way, is showing on Turner Classic Movies this Wednesday night at 11 PM. And she's also featured in their promos for their "TCM Underground: No Budget Filmmaking" series. See her here:

Re: “Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel Are In Love. Hot Biel on Beale Action To Ensue.

I see from IMDb that Biel replaced Lindsay Lohan in the upcoming adaptation of Oscar Wilde's "A Woman of No Importance," being directed by Bruce Beresford. That's a prestige project, and so it seems that she shares with JT a seriousness about her career and craft that a lot of denizens of Young Hollywood don't possess. I also see she was in 2005's "Elizabethtown." I never saw that; does anyone know if she happened to be in the film's Memphis-shot sequences? I understand that they were pretty brief, so chances are she wasn't.

Re: “See the Super Bowl Ads Again!

Check out the Honda CR-V spot. The music is a techno version of Elvis' "Burnin' Love," and when the camera zooms in on the GPS unit in the dashboard, it shows a highway map of the Memphis are.
