Re: “Olympic Sports: Do You Care?

Regarding roller sports --- roller derby would not be considered. By focusing on that, you overlooked the main aspects of roller sports which have been struggling to get into the Olympics since roller derby was on TV in the 70's.
The sport that was demonstrated was inline speed. In the past, roller hockey has been demonstrated. Another strong possibility would be artistic skating (i.e. figure ice skating on wheels.)
I'm an all around skater --- I've been to artistic worlds championship for both singles, pairs, and dance; I've been to quad speed nationals over and over; and I'm a roller girl. Of all these sports, roller derby is the newest and least experienced. Most girls who do it haven't been on skates for more than a few years. I've been artistic skating for 18 and speed skating for 12, and I'm young and considered a young skater to many in those disciplines. Throughout all these years I've heard so much complaining, scheming, petitioning, etc for our chance in the Olympics. Seeing as how I've been to Worlds five times now, and placed first in top divisions there's no where else for me to go. The Olympics would be the next step, and it's the step I've been building towards since I was 5 years old.
I can't give preference to one sport, but I think the most successful would be artistic skating (judging by the success of figure ice skating.) Though, it's tough to decide between that and speed.
I just hope that soon we get our day. I've been crossing my fingers and dreaming of Olympics far too long. (I hope it happens before I'm too old!)
