Deathtrap opens at Theatre Memphis tonight. If you haven t been down to the National Ornamental Metal Museum lately, today would be a good time. Artist Tim McCreight is holding an informal gallery talk tonight and discussing his work that s on view. Also, today kicks off the museum s annual Repair Days, during which you can bring all kinds of metal objects and have them repaired and/or sharpened by metalsmiths from across the country; proceeds benefit the museum. Tonight s big art shindig is the Art Museum of the University of Memphis 20th Anniversary celebration, with music, fireworks, a light show, and a televised exhibit of two decades of art. And while some may not consider furniture art, technically, Will McGowen s is, and he s having a reception tonight at 413 Monroe featuring some of his recent creations. Tonight s Coffee House Film Series feature at the Ugly Mug, sponsored by Crichton College s Institute for the Arts and Cultural Apologetics, is O Brother, Where Art Thou?, one of the best movies made in a long time and something that finally redeems George Clooney as an actor to be taken seriously. Tonight s Korean Royal Banquet Party at the Iron Chef features an eight-course menu and benefits the Windows of Hope Family Relief Fund for the families of food-service workers killed in the World Trade Center attacks. DJs Witnesse, Saturna, and B. Iskiwitz are at Automatic Slim s. Zach Myers, Stone Ground Kelly, Grandpa s Goodtime Fandango, and Mandalay are at the New Daisy. And back at B.B. KingÂs, Marcia Ball takes the stage for a one-night-only performance.
