Opera Memphis begins in 2001-2002 season tonight at The Orpheum with a performance of Piccini's final masterpiece, Toreador, the first time the opera has played here since 1979. There's also a pre-opera dinner and lecture at 5:30 p.m. at Rialto on Main Street Mall (call 57-3100 for details). Just around the corner on Beale Street, Blind Mississippi Morris & the Pocket Rockers are at Rum Boogie Cafe, Flesh VehiclesSal Si Puedes, and JOhnny Romania are at the Map Room. The opens today,with proceeds benefiting United Cerebral Palsy. And there are lots of fund-raising walks and runs today; check regular listings for details.
