Re: “MLGW Tests Drinking Water Close to Contaminated Well

The concern isn't that the arsenic and lead leaking from TVA's coal ash ponds has already reached MLGW's wells--it could take decades for it to reach the Davis well field. What is of great concern is that the sucking force of TVA's new cooling water wells could draw the contaminants down through unidentified holes in the aquifer's protective clay layer that might exist in the immediate vicinity of the new power plant. Groundwater scientists from the University of Memphis strongly suspect that there may be holes in the clay in the area but haven't had the funding to study it in detail. TDEC might want to have TVA hire them to check it out.

Re: “TVA Finds High Arsenic, Lead Levels Near New Wells

Tom Volinchak, go read the comments by the preeminent scientist on Memphis groundwater on the Commercial Appeal. I think his credentials way outweigh yours. Wait, what are your scientific credentials again?

  • Cohen Tells It!

In which Memphis’ Democratic congressman Steve Cohen, addressing an apparent GOP effort to muddy the waters on the Russian inquiry, not only takes no crap but gives it back where it came from. This is worth watching from beginning to end -- even for those who might disagree on the politics of the matter.
