Re: “Dauphin Island Getaway

The Common Loon on Dauphin Island has great fresh seafood, and when they have it, their corn and crab bisque is to die for. Believe it or not, the Chevron--"Chez Chevron" has fabulous hamburgers. Breakdfast is good at the gulfview Grille at the Isle Dauphine, and Baudean's on the parkway, a 20 minute drive from the island, has the freshest and best fried oysers and shrimp around. For local and regional art[both original and prints, and assemblage art] and fine crafts and handmade jewelry and cards featuring the island, and regular type gifts as well, don't miss mack'n'dd's EMPORIUM--a funky little shop-gallery with great new and old stuff and art. they also furnish free wifi onn the shop deck if you to do some computer business while on the island. Bring a bicycle because there is a bike trail that runs the length of the island. Dogs are welcome on the beach [except the extreme west end pay-to-play beach [nominal sum], but there IS a leash law--obey it! Fising is great in the waters of the island- DI is famous for that, as well as for it's magnificent sunsets. There is no other place quite like our wonderful little island- come and enjoy it- you will be hooked for life- just don'[t tell anybody else about it!
