Re: “Charles Oldrieve - River Walker

Charles Oldrieve made a living performing at outdoor festivals on lakes and rivers. He and his wife Carolyn would set off fireworks, he would walk on water...etc. It was a great entertainment according to the period newspaper reviews I have read.
It was at one of these performances that Carolyn suffered burns and was admitted to a hospital. Charles having to carry on the business was in Memphis TN on his way to Kentucky to make arrangements for a performance...when he got word his wife had died from a burn infection. He committed suicide in Memphis Tn and is buried in an unmarked grave in a cemetery on Elvis Presley Blvd. This happened about 6 months after his famous "walk on water"
