Re: “No More Parking Lots, Memphis. Let's Get Dense.

We could use some density in the city for sure. Right now, we're so spread out, it's hard to have effective public transportation. The city removing minimum parking was a good first step. An example: I know Last Burger on Earth has minimal dedicated parking and it does well with street parking and walk-up traffic.

Re: “Forum Opens Public Discussion Regarding Future of Fairgrounds

It's very telling that Lipscomb didn't show up at a public forum to discuss the Fairgrounds. He just wants to rely on consultants and doesn't genuinely care about what Memphis citizens think.

Re: “Report: Bicycling Amenities Deepen Memphis Inequality

This report just shows theoretical problems with bicycling amenities with no solutions. Thanks, professors.

Re: “Beale Street Landing Is Open

Beale Street Landing's development was probably mishandled a bit, but it was started under Herenton's administration.
That said, it's a nice looking project which ticks off several boxes: it provides good docking options for large and small boats, it has a playground (the only in Downtown, I think), it allows people to walk all the way to the water safely and it has a nice space with great river views.
Not a perfect project in its execution, but overall really nice.

Re: “Riverside Drive Gets A Road Diet, Bike and Pedestrian Lane

In a few months, people are going to forget there were ever two lanes each way on Riverside. It'll be like the great scare about Madison Avenue: some people will freak out and then it'll be fine. Relax people, it's only one lane of traffic each way going away.
