The Blotter

The Blotter

The importance of an alias: Officers went to the corner of Kansas and Fay on May 20th after five black males were spotted loitering there. As the arresting officer approached, one man ran around the building with a beer in his hands and seemed to be intoxicated. When the police ran a check on the name he gave them, several warrants showed up. But then the man admitted that wasn't his real name. Unfortunately, he had several warrants under his real name too, and he was transported to 201 Poplar.

Hoodwinked: A man who lives on Old Allen told police that he had hired an acquaintance on May 5th to put a new motor in his vehicle. He ordered the motor and gave the mechanic $900 to pick up the motor and install it. A week later, the man called and was told his car was ready to go. Luckily, when the man went to pick it up, he "checked the car and noticed that his old engine was still in the vehicle. ... The victim said he had not been able to contact [the] suspect because he runs out the back door and [doesn't] answer the phone."

WWJD? A woman on Old Brownsville Road called police after someone took the gas cap off the church van, stuffed paper in the gas tank, and then set it on fire. There was minor burn damage to the vehicle around the gas cap.

For the birds: A woman on Glenn called police May 20th after she tried to sell her birds on the Internet. The buyer said he would send a cashier's check to her for $5,600 and then she could keep $700 for the birds and send the difference back to him. Maybe it sounded suspicious because the woman contacted her bank and was told the check was not valid. n
