Re: “John Jay Hooker for Governor? Really?

Can you really waste this much publication space on a Steve Cohen suck?
Cohen's supports No on Amendment 1 and JJH for Governor, to its detriment and then supports Amendment 2, the only reason for which JJH is running, to oppose #2, to its detriment.

Re: “Tennessee Should Keep a Nonpartisan Supreme Court

Judge Allison Humphries dissent in the case which created this problem over 40 years ago. How prophetic is this?
“We are today witnessing a sad consequence of this subordination of this Supreme Court to the Legislature. Judicial notice can be taken of the fact that a bill has been introduced in the Legislature to repeal the (then referred to) Modified Missouri Plan. This bill may be defeated. But, that need not be the end of it. Another bill can be introduced next session, or the session after that, ad infinitum, so that Supreme Court Judges and, possibly, all judges, can be kept in attendance by the Legislature, hat in hand, so to speak, whenever it suits the purpose of some disgruntled representatives to snap the Court to attention with a bill to change the manner of their election. If this is not subordination, nothing is. If this is not more political than election by the people, nothing is. Have we not, like Esau, sold our precious birthright, equality and freedom for a mess of potage, a cheap, easy way to be perpetuated in office? I say this Court has opened Pandora's Box, and, that although the evils locked up therein may not surface immediately, and in fact may never surface, there is no longer any constitutional guarantee that they cannot, as was the case before the majority opinion was written.”

Re: “Cohen Agonistes

Without question, the most serious problem afflicting the 9th Congressional District has at its source a breakdown in the nuclear family. As much as 18 years ago Cohen, as state Senator, resisted or blocked efforts to ameliorate those problems and as a Congressman he has literally ignored it. Buying into the same failed policies, he simply does not "get it."
No one understands these issue and knows what needs to be done better than GA Hardaway. It is the core problem.
Thank you for your service Steve, but it is time for you to move on.

Re: “Letter from the Editor

Ah folks.... The term rocket surgeon was a joke. Country singer Larry Gatlin has used it from the stage for years. I am sorry everyone is so sense of humor challenged

Re: “Who for Hardaway? Kernell Supporters Say Opponent Wrongly Claimed Their Endorsement

Why don't we first allow Mike Kernell some time to first find new pants and get control of his personal life? Then perhaps we can examine if Steve Cohen is really the Congressional leadership needed for West Tennessee. I don't believe that he is and I trust GA Hardaway is the best one to handle the tough issues facing us the community.
The choice is clear to me.

Re: “Cohen Chides FBI Head on "Gateway" Theory of Marijuana

Industrial hemp has the potential of lifting our state out of its budget shortfall with its excellent purported viabile use as an ethanol base along with its many co-products.
The irrational fear over problems created through legal but regulated marijuana use, now have the potential to bankrupt our state.

Re: “Former Rep. Bowers Latest "Tennessee Waltz" Graduate to Resume Public Activity

The same law restricting legislators from fund raising during the Legislative session, and which is now being suggested for a repeal, was that which Kathryn Bowers went to jail when taking TN Waltz sting money in contributions while running her special election during session for State Senate. Her opponent however was allowed to raise money.
Senators Ramsey, Herron and Kyle now likely see it all differently.
Bowers is a fine woman deserving of respect. She got a lousy deal and no one stood up for her. It was disgraceful.
