Re: “Creative Merger

Agreed on the community aspect. But if each of the constituencies is individually served (your "taxed twice" example is just one aspect of how that works) then what contributes to the perception that consolidation goes *against* city-residents' self-interest? -Zac

Re: “"Harold, Call Me" Bimbo Is Not a Bimbo

This Tennessee/Atlanta discussion is very forward-thinking and progressive.

Re: “BARNSTORMING: Running on Empty

Implicit in this article is another very valid point: why on Earth did Jake Ford run for Congress if not to simply carry out the machinations of the Ford camp? He's underqualified, he's mediocre at best on the debate floor, and he's got Ford family baggage to deal with. But what's even more disconcerting to me is that *necessarily*--running as an independent--he all but *has* to prey on racial and familial loyalty in order to forge himself a target constituency. Otherwise, what voters is he aiming for? Without a relevant political past to back him up, it seems very clear that he's counting on getting a substantial portion of votes solely because 1) he's black, 2) Cohen is Jewish, and 3) his last name is Ford. He certainly is competing more for the Democratic votes than the Conservative ones, unless he was counting on milking Harold's "right flashes" for a *whole* lot more value than he could realistically get out of them.
