Justin Fox Burks is a prominent Memphis-based photographer who frequently works with the Memphis Flyer. But you might not know that he is the former drummer for Halfacre Gunroom. “When Iโm good, thereโs music in my life,” says Burks. “Iโm really fortunate to be making spooky, instrumental music with some very talented folks.
“Justin Elliott Thompson and I started writing songs together under the name We Live on the New Madrid last year. We finished a five-song, home-recorded EP called Our Fault, which is available now wherever you stream your music.”
Tripp Lamkins, Ben Alumbaugh, and Lori McStay round out We Live on the New Madrid, who made their live debut at Shangri-La Jugfest last weekend. Graham Burks, Justin’s brother, better known as Infinity Stairs, created this analog visual synth video for “An Interesting Time for an Afterlife.” The song is four dreamy, ethereal minutes of church bells and enigmatic saxophone.
