The Shelby County Clerk’s Office location in Poplar Plaza will no longer be open as of November 9, 2023.
Shelby County CAO Harold Collins issued a statement that the county clerk, Wanda Halbert, “had been behind on rent on the premises.”
“As of November 9, the Shelby County’s Clerk Office will no longer have a branch at 3412-A Plaza Drive in Poplar Plaza,” said the organization in a statement.
According to a post from the County Clerk’s X (formerly Twitter) account, the organization was notified by its landlord that it must vacate the premises within 30 days of October 11, 2023.
County Clerk officials have asked East Memphis residents to contact the Clerk’s office for “further questions regarding alternate locations.”
