ServiceMaster, which announced October 30th that is moving its corporate headquarters to Memphis in 2007, is the subject of the influential “Heard On The Street” column in Wednesday’s Wall Street Journal.
ServiceMaster’s businesses include TruGreen, Terminix, and MerryMaids. The company is known for its evangelical Christian corporate culture.
WSJ reports that ServiceMaster is attracting interest from investor groups that buy public companies and make them private companies, usually with new management.
“Its [Christian] culture may make some buyout firms uncomfortable,” says the story. “There is an 11-foot statue of Jesus washing the feet of a disciple at its headquarters, and “honoring God in all we do” is its first corporate objective.”
The company declined to comment to the Journal‘s reporter. ServiceMaster’s headquarters is currently in Downers Grove, Illinois. The move to Memphis was announced with considerable fanfare by the mayors and Gov. Phil Bredesen.
