Re: “Cohen's Close Encounters: An Election-Eve Battle on Two Fronts

I mean, make no mistake about it, this was not media coverage. This was a nut job carrying a camera around, stalking and pestering the Congressman. He was part of any news gathering organization. Cohen said they had had to rearrange their schedule, because the guy had become annoying and overbearing. This is not media - media does not create the news, but rather they are in the background reporting the news. This was harassment, stalking, and stupidity on the part of this idiot. He is lucky law enforcement wasn't there, he would have been arrested on the spot, without question.

Re: “Cohen's Close Encounters: An Election-Eve Battle on Two Fronts

I appreciate the way Cohen "man handled" that nut job. Cohen should have broken his neck. When somebody ask you to leave, that is not the queue to start arguing; that's when you start moving your feet. When you are asked to leave private property, if you do not say "OK", from that point forward it is considered criminal trespassing. It is just that simple.

Re: “"Dirk Diggler," Larry Godwin, and the First Amendment

Ok, delete my remark, but I insist your remark, "we should be defending good writing, correct spelling, careful sourcing and editing, fairness, documentation, and the importance of accountability and using names." is an attempt to compare main-stream, professional journalistm to somethin it is not. If you were wanting to make a good agrument, you should have drawn on America's first blogger: [Writing anonymously as "Pacificus Secundus" in a British newspaper, Franklin] resorted to his old tactic of scathing satire by pretending to support the idea that [British] military rule be imposed in the [American] colonies...

Re: “"Dirk Diggler," Larry Godwin, and the First Amendment

"we should be defending good writing, correct spelling, careful sourcing and editing, fairness, documentation, and the importance of accountability and using names." Pull your head out of your rear end. There can be absolutely no parallel drawn between blogging and professional, mainstream journalism. Here is your argument, regarding history's first blogger: [Writing anonymously as "Pacificus Secundus" in a British newspaper, Franklin] resorted to his old tactic of scathing satire by pretending to support the idea that [British] military rule be imposed in the [American] colonies...

Re: “Herenton, Cash Make Nice at City Hall Reception

Memphis City Government should not give one dime to MCS. It should be 100% funded by the county as proscribed by State law. Leave the "we are hurting our children" crap out of it. If it is the job of the county to pay for it, they need to pick up the tab.

Re: “The 9th District Debate: 'Who is Who and What is Not'

Joe sounded good, I liked him. Steve is Steve, he's always on his game. I felt sorry for Nikki.

Re: “Bright Ideas for Memphis: College Radio

Rhodes college owned the present-day WUMR signal about 20 years ago and way-back-when it was "the" cutting edge college radio station. However, it did not make it, Rhodes sold the station to the Memphis State. As a matter of fact, I think some of the original Rhodes DJ's are still on air.....
