I am not a professional photographer, but I like to take pictures of industrial settings - railroad yards, dumpsters, alleyways, etc. I was reported and stopped by the police.
It is worry to me we might end up in a situation similar to the ones in South America (Peru) I saw as a tourist there. We were warned not to take pictures of certain buildings because we would be arrested and interogated. There were guards armed with machine guns outside almost everybuilding, tanks parked on regular city streets, and our guide assured us it was only a matter of "protecting" the citizens.
Fear can lead us down a very oppressive path.
