Pastner absolutely made the right choice for the last play. Joe had been driving the lane all 2nd half & getting the calls; this one just didn't fall & the refs swallowed their whistles. Sometimes it just goes like that.
Chris was open, but he's streaky. Going with Joe for the 2 & the foul was a more likely scenario.
Martin's plan to drop out of state tuition should help with this matter...if the TBOR lets him do it, of course.
and it's totally not surprising that carol chumney is suggesting that the current leadership not run for a metro government. that reduces the number of people who could wipe the floor with her in an election.
the idea is not to have memphis take over everything...if anything, memphis WOULD be surrendering its charter.
"I got all kinds of issues, and you're going to tell me about a rape victim not being served at a particular time. I've got a lot of other lapses in service."
that says it all right there, straight from the horse's mouth. effective leader? please.
July 10 can't come soon enough.
couldn't agree more, mr. strickland!
at my business, none of us have had raises for 4 years because of the decline in our industry, paired with the down economy.
city employees aren't entitled to a raise just because they haven't received one in a couple of years. the rest of us are figuring out how to make do without; they can too.
oh, and we pay for our own cars as well...take those out of the budget! everyone in a down economy has to bite the bullet...that includes king willie's cronies who have had the gravy train for far too long.
I think it's hilarious that these ky fans are talking about how quickly our opinion of cal has turned, when just two months ago, their message boards were overrun with "cal's a snake oil salesman, he's slimy, he's shady, we don't want him."
now that he's got the job, he's some kind of saint. hilarious.
cal was a slimy ***hole when he was here, but he was OUR slimy ***hole, so we let a lot of stuff go. you will do it, too. actually, you've already started.
note to ky fans: he won't hesitate to leave you in the dust if something else serves his ego more. he's not going to have a cake walk to a national championship there - he won't be able to mow over the sec conference, will get a lower seed in the ncaa tournament, and have a tougher time advancing.
cal had a national championship at memphis this coming year handed to him on a silver platter, and he let his ego get in the way...or maybe he just doesn't have enough faith in his own coaching skills (time out, anyone??), so he can't stay somewhere where he would have ZERO excuse to not get a ring next year.
never mind the fact that the other sec teams and louisville media aren't going to gloss over some of cal's indiscretions nearly as much as memphis media & cusa teams did.
memphis will be fine. people forget that we've been at the point cal got us to every decide for the past 40 years:
-gene bartow got us exactly to where cal did in the 70's,
-dana kirk did it with the exception of one game in the 80's (he obviously wasn't as slick as cal about hiding his indiscretions), and
-larry finch did it with the exception of two games in the 90's.
good luck, cat fans! we danced with the devil, & now that he's gone, the blinders are off, & we're glad to have a head coach whose actions we don't have to defend every other day. now it's your turn. good luck with that.
