Re: “Letter From the Editor

I am one of those out of town investors who came in unfortunately during the downturn four years ago and did so because Memphis showed so many "diamonds in the rough" waiting to be cut and shine. The previous Mayor WH was on a course to completely destroy those assets and their potential. Mayor Wharton has done a fantastic job changing the future of Memphis. The improvements started out slowly and subtly, but when I fly in I notice the whole makeup of those on the plane is so different. Not many fat slobs and a lot more business people embarking on this new course. IT IS HAPPENING!

Re: “The Memphis Brand

Unbelievable. I am an outside investor in delapdated apartments that I am rebuilding in the Midtown / hospital area and was ready to bail out on everything I have been trying to do, until AC Wharton became mayor and showed me what a difference ONE person can do. I am not political whatsoever, just an investor who comes to Memphis once a month.

To me, Memphis was always a "diamond in the rough" uncut, but with great potential. AC is making the right cuts and within 2 years, the town will have a completely different image, look and feel. Memphis will be relevant. The reason Mary is CRITICAL is because the Mayor needs to promote and control the image, not these other self inflicted, so called city groups Chamber etc.

RIGHT ON AC. I am with you.

Re: “Blight Fighters

Uh how about jobs? This city has so many poor people who don't even want to work so rents are nothing, leading to abandonment and waiting for a better day, which hasn't come yet was always promised. I am an apartment owner who can't even get a decent contractor to bid on my work and the ones that do come out HAVE NO CREDENTIALS. Some worked for 3 days and made off with a few thousand bucks at a clip.

You can't squeeze one end without expecting a turd out the other.

Re: “I'll Trade You a Health Department for an Arena ...

finally closer to reality. Best news yet. With the county gone, a deal can actually be made and put Memphis back on the map in a positive way.

How many photos have we seen of Memphis and the pyramid? How many people looking at that photo actually realize it is currently an empty shell? Now we can do SOMETHING, ANYTHING with it. YA
