Re: “Blazers 100, Grizzlies 99 -- A Teamwide Reassessment, Part One.

Hey I have been watching a lot of the Grizz this year and like you, I thought last night was the worse loss of the year. It was disappointing in so many ways, and this season is actually turning into what I expected.

Going into this year we knew we had major problem areas in 1)leadership 2) depth. 12 games into the season we still have the same two major problems and a resolution does not seem to be near. Even after a players only meeting, nobody stepped up and took control. And after drafting two players and signing a free agent, our depth is still a question mark.

Here are a few areas that stood out to me that need attention...

The Rotation

I know it is early into the season, and Hollins is still experimenting with the rotation, but the minutes people were playing adn the substitutions happening just didnt make sense. Matthews was eating us alive in the first half, and Tony Allen does not see time until the 3rd quarter? He was signed as a defensive specialist and we wait for an opponent to set career highs to even make an attempt to stop him. Thabeet continues to look lost and not sure he will ever get better. Rotating Arthur in to spell Gasol and Randolph is working now, but after 50-60 games of this fatigue will set in, and Arthur continues to get into foul trouble. Drafting Henry was to provide depth at SG/ SF and also to relieve Rudy, but Xavier looks and plays like a rookie. He is at least a year away from contributing.

Greivis

I love his energy, hustle, and excitement. It is a breath of fresh air to see someone on our team showing emotion and the want and desire to take over- even if it is the 2nd team. But Hollins needs to know when to pull him. His defense and speed is still a major liability, especially when going against the other team's starter. In the 4th quarter I was waiting to see when Conley would make an entrance after Portland put Miller back in the game. Here's how a sequence went down after Miller was in the game..... Miller drives past Greivis for easy layup... Greivis throws up a 3 pointer and misses instead of running offense with Rudy and Zac on floor (reminded me of J Will).... Miller easy bucket.... Greivis gets ball stolen and fast break points for the Blazers. Instead of taking him out, Hollins leaves him in and waits to put Conley in the game. After he puts in Conley, Mike makes an instant contribution on offense- but Miller remained hot. Miller has 12 years of experience in the NBA and Greivis has 12 games of NBA experience. Miller is not the best pg in the league, but that was an awful mismatch.

Roster Moves

I am all for trading Thabeet for 3 magic beans, but do you think ownership would be willing to part with him? Rumor has it that Jason Thompson is on the block in Sacramento. That would be a major upgrade over Thabeet. I know they are looking for some backcourt help, could we get them a misused Tony Allen or Sam Young too? Also, if we are not even talking to Zac's agent about an extension, do we want to trade him this year to get something for him? Something, anything, would be better than letting Zac walk for nothing.

Re: “Griz-Cavs Game Post

Rudys move to the goal and fouled by shaq was the quickest move I've seen all year by any player

Re: “Griz-Cavs Game Post

Conley looks lost in the 1st quarter. He's losing his man on defense and on offense he is fueling vernons too much dribbling gripe.
