We have been experiencing some of the best basketball played in Memphis on any level so far this year. Some of the execution is just outstanding and has been a pleasure to watch.
CH is the best NBA beat writer in the area if not most of the league.
I thought going into the 4th quarter of the game on Sat. they needed to try and get Battier and Allen on the floor together to slow the Spurs run. They played together for a while and it really seemd to help. More of that may be helpful too.
Very good objective and fair analysis of the situation Chris, as usual.
My only problem with this is simply that it seems to be a unilateral Heisley move, with little to no input and discussion with Wallace and or Hollins. However , the team does need help from the 3 point line, but I'm not sure we are going to get that here. I have been hoping for an addition to the roster since Law was released to be a 3 point threat and help spread the floor to opent the middle some. I just think at this time, if something was avbailable to do that it probably fell on deaf ears when proposed to Heisley for $$$ reasons and it may have been enough to win 2 or 3 of the winalble games teh team has already lost. That said, I hope for the best for J-Will, and the team and hope he can be the missing piece that may help to get this team into the playoffs.
Agree with all points. I do believe adding some shooting depth on the bench is needed though. A 3 point threat is needed to spread the floor with the bench players and this team could achieve it's playoff goal easier. I don't understand the reasoning behind not filling open roster spots when the goal is to make the playoffs. With the injuries to Henrey and now Allen, I can't imagine waiting too long to get some productive help.
Great analysis Chris I really think the bottom line here is what the cost would have been to replace Conley or sign himnext year. From what I understand a qualifying offer would start at about 6.3 million so the firs year at 6.5 is not terrible.
As for Vernon, he thought Pau Gasol was terrible too and now Conley is his whipping boy. A poor track record for to say the least.
Chris, What has happened to Kenny Thomas? was he not on the roster?
