Great piece, Bruce. I am thoroughly enjoying this show as well. The only problem I have with it so far is the childish repudiation of religion, specifically Christianity, that Cohle projects. The writers simply have a backwards view of religion, and I find that people who don't necessarily associate with religious people tend to take these hollywood-skewed views as, well, gospel. Of course true in small samples, maybe larger than we'd care to admit, but we know that this view of religion is only true for a small part of those who choose to practice these religions.

I appreciate that you're willing to converse with the readers, but, after reading some of your other reviews, I don't really want to. Well written, but it doesn't seem that many movies impress you, movies that should. i.e.-District 9/500 Days of Summer.
thenotsohardcoregamer.blogspot.com I have a few reviews up as well.
I agree that the first scene ROCKED. But you are WAY off in the rest of your assessment. The dialogue was razor sharp, acting spot on, (especially Waltz) and those moments of tension were handled with incredible ease by QT. While It was a surprise to see Mike Myers, he did a fine job in his role. This movie was just plain FUN. ( I haven't cheered in a movie in a long time.) Basterds was light years ahead of Kill Bills, and its wonderful to see a director like QT do what he does.
