Blank, you said it best. Why should a body of "officials" that have failed to do an adequate job, be allowed to keep their seats on the board after giving the failed system over to the county board? If you want SCS to take over, then resign your position at the time of the merger. Your services are not needed at that point.
MCS board's idea of governing is similar to the city council's: overspend on administrative waste, then look around for another source of revenue to get your greedy hands on. I am tired of hearing of all of it, really, and it is not racist to want qualified educated people on the school board. I think the only member with any sense at all is Kenneth Whallum. The rest of them need to go get a job.
I saw Widespread Panic in a packed house, was the first time I experienced jam band music. Had also seen Corrosion of Conformity, Grifters, and the greatest of all: Suicidal Tendencies. That show was freakin' awesome.
