In the interest if journalistic integrity, controversial and misleading articles such as this one should always be accompanied by an opposing opinion to give a balanced picture.
The glass needs to be smaller, Mr. Mayor! No more taxes, please . There needs to be reality added to the formula and a budget prepared within our means, just like in our households. I'll gurantee if they get all the money they ask for, they will spend every cent and will be back for even more next year. It's time to say NO loudly, just like with a misbehaving child.
I'm not sure what makes this either a Democratic or Rebublican issue - Is there now a Republican or Democratic way to educate children?
Reportedly, the reason Parkinson signed the conference report and voted for the bill was because he didn't wish to deny the suburbanites their right to vote. It's no more complicated than that, but the Flyer version makes a better story.
Jackson: I was equally shocked by the performance of Mr. Towns, and the entire Memphis delegation, including Mr. Hardaway, for that matter. It was clear their efforts were orchestrated and designed to obstruct, not contribute to the process. It was sad to watch and realize why Memphis is viewed with such disrespect...they work so hard to earn it.
