Actually in some European countries women are not told not to drink while pregnant; they are told not to drink heavily while pregnant. So there is research out of Europe that shows an occasional glass of wine doesn't harm
The flap over the smart meters is just silly. I participated in the pilot program and it's great. This is nothing more than technological advancement. The reality is that at some point the job of meter reader will become obsolete alone with the bank teller and any number of other professions.
Things definitely seems a little fishy; at the very least the police may have not followed procedure. However, going to sleep in a car with a gun next to you is simply not a wise idea. On the surface, it may seems to make sense especially if you are in a bad area; however, criminals thrive on the element of surprise. Once you are asleep if someone attempts to rob you, they will likely have a gun pointed at you before you wake and any attempt to reach for your own gun will likely just get you killed. On the other hand, you also risk being startled and shooting someone who was no threat.
Whoever has the element of suprise wins a gun fight. If someone already has a gun pointed towards you there is little you can do. If she had tried to pull her own gun she would likely be dead today. Life is not some movie where the hero always manages to pull the trigger first despite having a gun pointed at his head.
They rush in so that the suspects don't have time to flush the drugs. However, though I understand it I don't agree with the tactic. There is really no reason for police to go kicking in doors except when lives are at risk.
Overall I'm not a fan of the death penalty, but I agree that there are some individuals to whom it should be applied, not as a matter of punishment, but as a matter of public safety. Personality I feel life in prison is a far worse punishment than death because we all must die. However, in dealing with people such as serial killers, we pretty much know that if they were to ever get free (such as during some type of natural disaster) they would almost surely kill again then death is the better option. However, the rules of applying the death penalty should be even more stringent than a regular conviction. Beyond reasonable doubt isn't good enough; it should be beyond all doubt.
She should simply interupt in mid-sentence to say "XXX and I just had a big fight blah blah blah" and whenever they talk about their problems always interupt with "that reminds me of when XXX and I blah blah blah" People like these are takers not givers. They usually are only interested in talking about themselves. Turn the tables on them and they tend to run for the hills.
