Re: “Fly On the Wall

For the record, the driver did not drive the truck around with the words METH LAB on the windows. After the "shake and bake" was removed and neutralized, the police marked all the windows for the towing company, impound lot, evidence, etc. You can also faintly see the M and E that shows backwards from the front window.

Re: “Fired Up

Yes, very good article with both perspectives.

I second, third, or whatever the above statements....we firefighters pay for our own stuff, down to the sugar we put in our coffee and the butter we put on our bread. Not too many people complain, that's just the way it has always been. Food, phone, cable, tvs, etc.
We get an ok clothing allotment, but we often spend more than that on worn out work boots, clothes, new class A uniforms because "we need more buttons", etc.

We are at work literally one third of the time for 25+ years. One third, an average of 56 hours a week. Then most of us go to our other jobs on our days "off".

We are proud of our jobs. I am proud to be part of the Memphis Fire Department.
