Don't confuse "end of everything" with "end of the world as we know it". Yellowstone erupting will kill 50% of Americans, and the other 50% would have a hard time for decades. But the planet and human species will carry on just fine. Even a global cataclysm like a pole shift is not the end, but just a really terrible time in which few people survive. Prepare for the worst - catastrophes are inevitable - and hope for the best.
