Seriously, who needs a Fresh Market when you have a farmer's market--can I get an Amen?
As a college student, I wouldn't even know what to do with a grocery store that offers more than either of the two Krogers.
Fetching local produce every Saturday commands a kind of calendar-enforced regularity both my budget and budgeted diet desperately need.
Even better, this grassroots phenom inspires passions in ways only local produce can. Participation in this kind of derivative economy fills my peers and me with certain warmth: a kind-to-the-earth sensitivity toward our fellow man forged through our humble, weekly transactions.
Beside balancing the conscience for loco-for-locavores college kids, these micro urban farm & food initiatives fit just fine within the semi-feudal tapestry that is Midtown.
After all, Midtown is Memphis.
