At this point I could care less about seed and don't really care about the match up unless it's the terrifying Spurs. The important thing is health. If our guys are healthy we can play with just about anyone. If not, it's gonna be rough. Gasol should have never played last night.
I was at the game too. In my opinion Calathes, Lee, and James Johnson were all really good last night. Our problem was our two big guys (Marc and ZBo) failed. Mostly I hang it on Marc: he threw way too many passes that ended up as turnovers, whether to a defender or to the sidelines and on defense he really didn't do anything. ZBo was great on offense, but he got dunked on more times than I could count - didn't matter whether he was guarding Dalembert, Brendan Wright, or even DeJuan Blair - he couldn't stop anybody. I did wonder at times if putting Ed Davis in there could have helped give the Grizzlies a bit more of a punch around the rim on defense, but I doubt that would have been enough to overcome in this game. Bottom line: Marc and ZBo have got to be better for the Grizzlies to be good.
I feel better about the FOGAFINI right now than I would have in the last few years. The one positive about all the injuries that the Grizzlies sustained in the first half of the season is that it gave a chance to really develop a deep bench. They've got 11-12 (once Tony comes back) players that can really play. Given that, I think they can tap into that bench more as the 4 game stretch starts to wear them down and potentially come out winning all 4 games.
went Saturday and had the Indian Street Food. It was fantastic.
Come on now - no love for Fast Planet? Their debut at the Hi Tone was easily the best local show I saw this year.
I think it's Tony Allen by a mile.
Great pick with George Washington - such a good movie. I've really appreciated pretty much everything south-related that David Gordon Green has done (Undertow sticks out in my mind). I'll have to check some of these others out too.
