Come on gang...why are we dragging this out foreverrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr approve the Mayor's plan and let this be. Appears that the only one attached to the Zoo that is causing an issue is Mr. Brady..Zoo Board please wake up and see the ongoing, hard to recover from damage that the person you hired and appear to be standing behind has done to our City.
I just kept thinking during the painful process we watched this afternoon at the City Council ...where are all the citizens that are supporting the Zoo on this issue? So all of the CC district reps(except for Martavius) are voting the voice of their constituency? Really?? And this resolution was just released today at 10am? So you are sure this is why you voted the way you did? because the people that put you in office voiced their support?.......oh come now.. who do you think we are....
One problem in this scenario is that a very good offer was turned down via Rasberry. The group making this offer has the capacity and a proven track record.
This offer was significantly above the recently appraised value. Rasberry has apparently convinced the owners that the raw "subdivided" land is worth more without the historic landmark. This offer was rescinded 2 weeks ago. Let's hope negotiations can continue and no one rushes the unnecessary demolition of this valuable piece of Memphis architecture and history.
