The Commercial Appeal ran a piece by Mary Powers titled ยMemphis Nurses Disciplined,ย which sounds like a porno movie about naughty Memphis nurses getting the spanking they deserve. In fact, it was a non-porno story about naughty Memphis nurses getting the spanking they deserve. We were very disappointed.
WMC ran the too-true-to-be-funny headline: ยSweeping changes might be ahead for Memphis City Schoolsย students,ย which, in the current climate, sounds more like a guidance counselor suggesting career options than a plan to overhaul Memphisย crappy schools. But our favorite headline this week comes from WREGยs Web site: ยDogs Gone Wild in North Memphis.ย Okay, a headline suggesting that there are dogs in North Memphis willing to bare it all for your viewing pleasure wasnยt really that funny, but the story included the line: ยItยs about 20 to 25 dogs in there … all kinds rockwilers,ย which made us giggle. For those who donยt know, the ยrockwilerย [a.k.a., ยRottweilerย]is a breed of vicious fighting dogs trained specifically to tear the tires off a three-wheeler.
