A Hickory Hills night club, which was the site of a recent late-night bust by the Memphis Safe Task Force (MSTF), has closed.
The Memphis Police Department announced the closing of Legends Bistro and Lounge located at 6232 Knight Arnold Road. The department said this was in collaboration with the city of Memphis and the Shelby County District Attorney’s Office.
Police officials said this was the result of continued violence and criminal activity at the lounge. The department said 58 documented incidents occurred at the lounge since March 2023. These incidents included discharge of firearms and one homicide.
“As complaints involving fights, aggravated assaults, drug activity and other criminal activity continued, detectives with MPD’s Organized Crime Unit conducted a long-term investigation into the location,” MPD said.
The lounge was previously served with a nuisance warning letter after several incidents.
On August 9th MPD’s Organized Crime United executed a search warrant at the lounge along with the MSTF, Fire Marshal’s Office, and the Tennessee Alcoholic Beverage Commission.
Officers found the club to have 300 people inside, with a maximum occupancy of 99.
“The operation resulted in multiple arrests,” officials said.
“Investigators also identified employees with outstanding warrants, armed security personnel working without proper state licensing, and evidence related to alleged illegal narcotics activity and unlawful alcohol sales.”
Two shootings also occurred “in the immediate area” on September 20th and 21st.
MPD affirmed this was not the result of one incident, and said they will continue to work with the city, District Attorney’s Office, and other law enforcement to “address locations [of] repeated violence and criminal activity.”
