The Better Business Bureau (BBB) issued a consumer alert late last month on a Collierville-based clothing company.
The BBB said the alert on Valabasas comes amid a “concerning pattern of complaints against the company filed by consumer; many of which remain unanswered.” The company a holds an F rating with the BBB.
Here’s why the BBB said it issued the consumer alert:
“Over the past three years, consumers from all over the country have filed 35 complaints against the company, with 26 of those submitted within the last 12 months. Many complaints center around delayed shipments, poor communication, and incomplete orders.
“Customers frequently report waiting extended periods without receiving updates — even after reaching out multiple times by phone, email, or social media. In several cases, items were missing from the order, and attempts to get assistance were ignored.
“In one case, a customer returned a pair of jeans for a refund but instead received an unrelated item with no explanation or follow-up. Another reported being charged over $700 for orders they never placed and said it took weeks to get any response from the company. In several cases, customers were told to file police reports for missing packages which they felt made the process more difficult and frustrating.
“The BBB sent letters to Valabasas by email and registered mail, outlining concerns and requesting a plan to address the issues. To date, the company has not made any visible effort to resolve the problems affecting its customers.”
Facebook reviews from customers bear out this warning.
“Waiting for order,” wrote Manuel Perez in February. “This is a scam. Unbelievable.”
“I’ve been trying to return [an] item for a week now,” wrote Tim Jefferys in May. “All I need is return instructions. I ordered a size 36 but need a larger size. No one has gotten back to me. The customer service sucks.”
