Planned route for the Greenline’s western extension via a new bridge
Theย City’s Division of Engineering is asking the public to attend a meeting onย Thursday, August 17 to offerย input on a proposal to extend the Shelby Farms Greenline to Tobey Park near Midtown.
The expansion would lengthen the Greenline by about a half of a mileย via a new bridge. The bridge, which will be built over the Union and Poplar viaducts, as well as a railroad track, will serve as a connection point for cyclists.
At a meeting in Octoberย of last year, the City introduced the concept for this project to the public and asked for their feedback.
In response to the feedback,ย the City and its consultants have developed two new alternative designs, which it will be shared at the meeting on Thursday.
Beginning at 6:00 p.m. atย First Baptist Church on Broad, the meeting will offer the public a chance to provide input on the bridge’s appearance and the proposed associated amenities.
According to City officials, 80 percent of the project’s cost would be covered by a federal transportation grant.
